Bay Area Job Market Gains 7000 Jobs, Led by South Bay, San Francisco, East Bay

The Bay Area job market powered to sturdy increases in February, with technology employment in the South Bay, Peninsula and San Francisco continuing to grow even as companies shift distribution, back-office and other functions to states with lower costs of living and fewer commute hassles, state labor officials reported Friday.
The 7,000 new jobs added in the nine-county Bay Area represented nearly half — 48 percent — of all jobs created in the Golden State last month. During the first two months of 2019, the Bay Area accounted for a head-spinning 81 percent of all the job growth in California. All the numbers were adjusted for seasonal variations.
Santa Clara County added 3,000 jobs, the San Francisco-San Mateo metro area gained 3,700 jobs, and the East Bay added 1,400 positions during February, according to seasonally adjusted figures from the state Employment Development Department. Those gains helped overcome job declines in some other Bay Area urban centers.
